Originally, I voted for five-minute.com. But I hadn't read the thread yet. I change my vote to fiveminute.net. .net is just more logical. 5mv is not a company or an organization.[/colorost_uid0]

5minute.com works, I guess.

Especially since you use the number 5 for the seperate areas, like 5MV. (5ME, 5MD, etc.)[/colorost_uid0]

If you're worried about telling people the name, keep in mind that for 5minute.com you'll have to say "five (the number five) minute dot com," which might well get tiring after a while for savings of three keystrokes. Fiveminute.net is definitely the simplest domain name when it comes to giving it orally.[/colorost_uid0]

Well, I love .org addresses because org sounds funny. But that's about it. Having a .com name sounds v. cool, with the only annoyance being the hypen. Though as pointed out, the hypen is used throughout the site and would thus make sense. Besides, I'd only have to use the new address once to update my favourites list and I'm sorted.

Anyway, www.five-minute.com is quicker to type than www.3sygma.com/fiveminute, so wouldn't it be an improvement overall?

Well, regarding 5/five, I think Scooter's right about always having to say "5 (the number five) minute dot com". At the same time, I like the fact that 5 is a fairly unique prefix for a webpage, and since I don't use bookmarks, I like the fact that just typing 3 makes the entire 3sygma URL autocomplete. If we had 5minute, typing 5 would produce similar results.

Then again, if they're taken, let's just stick with five.[/colorost_uid0]

Well, even though it's apparently unavailable, I'm still going to say what I think about 5minute.anything: I don't like it. When the word "minute" is spelled out on the site, so is the word "five." The only time the numeral is used is when it's being abbreviated, as in 5MV.

(And the hyphen is used in the site as well... )[/colorost_uid0]

So it seems we`re looking for the simplest solution, and that would definitely be www.fiveminute.net. Hyphen is cool when used on the site, but not cool when you`re talking to someone and giving them the address. Which means .net is better. And the fact the site isn`t commercial, another plus for .net

I voted for five-minute.com, but I change my vote to fiveminute.net [/colorost_uid0]

Yes, that's a good point. Likewise the point about how it's simpler to spell everything out rather than mixing numerals with letters.[/colorost_uid0]

There's another consideration: take out the www.

www.fiveminute.net may be taken, but what about just http://fiveminute.net ?[/colorost_uid0]

www. counts like a subdomain. It doesn't make a bit of difference. If go.com is used, it doesn't matter whether or not they used yousuck.go.com, they own it.

I'm for five-minute.com. To me, calling 5MV an "organization" is a bit generous.

But seriously, I don't have that many Trekkie friends in real life that have the time for such sites, so the whole hyphen thing isn't really a concern. If you're gonna be e-mailing or IMing the site the hyphen really isn't a concern.

Please keep pestering me to get that fiver done that I've had reserved for what seems like a year. And as a shameless plug, please read my fivers both here and over at 5MSG.[/colorost_uid0]
