December 23
Here's Derek with the conclusion of Smallville's first big arc this season: "Solitude." (You Americans will just have to settle for second place -- here in Canada we have two solitudes.) By the way, turns out I miscounted: we had only six fivers left, not five. But I missed yesterday's update anyway due to Christmas shopping, so it works out. Stay tuned for the big guns of this event tomorrow and Sunday, featuring Derek's "Lexmas" and a surprise guest. From Krypton. That still has some shock value left, right? Right?

Bring on a guest from Xenon and then you'll shock me.

Out of curiosity, is that a reference to the book or to Angloman?

 The periodical table of elements, actually. Krypton and Xenon are two of the noble gases.

I meant the two solitudes, sorry.

 that's sort of an oxymoron, isn't it?

I meant the book, Nan. Angloman looks funny but I've only seen it in stores.
(Explanation: Hugh MacLellan's Two Solitudes is one of the best-known Canadian novels, exploring the complex English/French divide in Canada. Angloman is a satirical superhero comic, sort of a Canadian "The Tick" -- and naturally, the title character's base of operations is his Fortress of Two Solitudes.)
