Default December 17 (5M^_^: Five-Minute Hell Girl)

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain -- Five-Minute Anime continues! Today we have not just a new fiver, but a whole new kind of fiver. I've recently become a huge fan of Jigoku Shoujo, a.k.a. Hell Girl. It's a supernatural show with a fascinating premise that reminds me of The Ring. The art and music are gorgeous. A box set of the first season with English dub recently came out, so I highly recommend taking a look.

That said, the show can be a little... formulaic. It's always worth watching, but the anthology format lends itself to repetition. How much repetition? This much repetition:

Five-Minute Hell Girl: any episode

(Yes, I know none of you have ever watched it. Indulge me. It's my birthday.)

Not seen it, but heard of it, and...well, it's on the list now, anyway. Nice one, Zeke.

Dark Blues: I'm going to kill you!
Enzan: Not if I kill me first!
Dark Blues: You...are aware my goal is accomplished either way, right?
Enzan: ...Yeah...

Happy Birthday, Zeke.

Sounds like a real nut Job.

As if I ever let that hinder me before.

Happy birthday!

Oh, wow. It's like I got a guest spot in this one, or something.

Anyway, quite a funny fiver, and interesting development of the form too. This new modular approach to compressing entire series into five minutes has a lot of potential, and no doubt about it.

Yup

Whoa. I... actually don't know how to deal with two in a week. Not anymore. Geeze.

I liked it, though. Happy birthday.
