You do look at those, right?

So I'm watching the Star Trek V DVD, and I notice something odd for the first time. The caption says "Yosemite National Park." Are there really still "nations" as such in the 23rd century? The United States ceased to exist in the late 21st century, right?

Whilst the nation ceased to exist, it may still exist as an administrative region / they might have been too lazy to rename the landmarks.

Or the captions weren't done by Trekkies, so they used the wrong name - you do see mistakes in them from time to time.

There are probably still "state"/"province" and "local" parks as well.

Why is WWW an abbreviation to World Wide Web when it is easier to say World Wide Web?

For that matter, why is it called "double u?" Why not "wuh?"

It isn't. WWW is an abbreviation for World Three.

What?

Or, sometimes, The Wild Wild West, also known as W3.

No, not the Will Smith one, the other one.

At the time the logo was created, it was much more of a unique product, service and web presence. Now, not so much -- things have gotten a lot more crowded.

Why do people always refer to the Fifth Way as the Argument From Design? It's nothing of the sort!

Have scientists calculated the optimal moisture content needed for snow to make the perfect snowball?

Oh god, don't suggest such a thing! I've read of studies to find out what the best method is to help with nicotine cravings (smoking apparently) and extensive scientific studies into what's worse, the sound of puking or a baby crying.

Whatever happened to that cancer thing that was popular a few years back? They cured it I suppose? You don't hear about it.

And while we're on the topic: Cancer. CAN it be cured? From my understanding of it it seems like it couldn't possibly be possible. But that's with only a basic education in Biology.
