I am really looking forward to the finale -- and yet, then what am I going to do? No Doctor Who until the "Christmas Special." And then more waiting for Season 2. We need 24/7 Doctor Who. Maybe a Doctor Who channel. (sigh) Meanwhile, here in the US they can't even get Doctor Who on one of the regular channels...

Or pretty much anything from the US, actually. Lost doesn't arrive here until August (and it's already showing on the continent in places, not to mention as far off as Singapore), and we're only now going to get to see Wonderfalls at the beginning of next month. Of course, the problem then is that it's almost always that bastard Murdoch (or more accurately Sky) that snap up the broadcast rights, which means if you don't have cable or digital or whatever you've got to wait even longer before it appears on terrestrial.

Yeah, but most American TV is crap, so 9 times out of 10 you're missing nothing. And a lot of times great American stuff gets lost or ignored over here, like "Firefly." Meanwhile, it's painfully easy to catch stupid reality shows like "The Real Gilligan's Island"...
But I'm glad you mentioned it. Chatting with Nic Corelli I knew that he was way behind us on "Smallville," but I didn't realize we were doing such a poor job of exporting what good TV we have. Meanwhile I just discovered the original "Coupling," believe it or not. I've seen three episodes and died laughing, and now I have to figure out how to get that, too. I feel like a transsexual, but instead of being a woman in a man's body I'm a Brit in a Yank's body.

I never really liked Coupling myself, but I've heard it's far superior to the US remake, as is usually the case with such remakes (although the US version of The Office is apparently pretty good). You do have a point of course Scooter, in that most of the crap tends to get filtered out by the time it gets across to our side of the Pond, but it's still annoying to have to wait six months or a year to see just what it is that everyone is raving on about (with the very rare exception like BSG, of course). I suppose it can goe both ways though of course - none of the US networks as far as I know have yet decided they want to pick up Who. You could always move to Canada of course; I hear they've got plenty of spare room.

What's funny about all this is that I did manage to see "Bad Wolf," and I was only able to appreciate the jokes because all of the game shows featured in the episode did come over here in American versions. I was a big fan of the American "Weakest Link" while it was on (Me shouting at the set: "Bank! Bank, you idiot!"), before of course they ruined it by doing too many all-celeb episodes. But thanks to American importing I was able to recognize the "Weakest Link" set, Anne Robinson's hair, and so on just as quickly as a Brit. So I was a very, very happy Yank.
And how many people have had exactly that feeling--that Anne was two seconds away from vaporizing you! Hilarious.

Yes. Not so cool is that RTD thinks he's done everything he can do with the Daleks - i.e. they are utterly and completely destroyed by this coming episode........
