I think you just need to stop promising updates before you've written the content for them.
Just because you're not updating as often as you used to, we're not going to form a mob and burn you at the stake.

^Well, we'd certainly care, but we'd understand that things in real life get in the way of what we want or ought to do.

Mmm-hmm. Honestly, I (and I think anyone else who's ever attempted to run a site before) can understand how difficult it is to do anything at all. The fact that 5MV is so large and has so much content is inspiring, if anything. And so what if you coast sometimes? Doesn't everyone?
Like other people have said, I think we'd just be happy if you reminded us you were still around every now and then. You're the only one beating yourself up--it's not the end of the world if you don't have content up all the time. And no one's going to turn rabid on you. Unless of course we all run out of pie.
