Apparently some people have had a problem reconciling the Trek film odd/even rule with the "bad" Trek 10 and the "good" Trek 11. Their solution is to treat Galaxy Quest as the "true, good" Trek 10 with Nemesis as the "bad" Trek 11 and Trek 2009 as the "good" Trek 12. Of course this is fanwank at its best, but I still want to hear opinions.

I don't consider that rule to have a very strong correlation with reality. It was already discounted by the last few Next Gen movies, wasn't it?

I've long been interested in the United Earth Space Probe Agency, or UESPA, the organization only mentioned a few times in TOS before the concept of Starfleet was finalized. This page has an interesting hypothesis, that the presence of army-based ranks like Colonel in a naval-based Starfleet may be attributed to a combined service of UESPA and Starfleet officers.
