If you've ever really looked at a bug's legs, they're really quite slender. That means an infinitesimal area on the bottoms of the feet for the bug's weight to be supported. Bugs are very light anyway, so when they're tiny they can get away with this.A huge bug's mass would increase proportional to the cube of its original mass, but its foot area would only increase proportional to the square of its original area. So eventually the bug would get too big to support its own weight, and collapse and die.[/color ost_uid0]
