ost_uid0]Oh, I'm registered. It's just that the software chooses not to recognize that. (The above post is a new anomaly -- more on that later but at least someone gets to actually see the member title you came up with for me.)
Back to the point, I registered when the Forums came back and made these posts in the "The New Forums: What and Why" thread:

Heigh-ho, looky here! New 5MV-looking forums! Nice job, Zeke (and graphics consultant Kira). I approve!
Good to be back, and I'll be catching up as time permits.

Hmm. Something strange going on here. I'm registered and logged in. My name is showing at the bottom of the main page, yet as soon as I move to another part of the forum, I'm a guest. Are my cookies off having fun by themselves and pretending to be me? Back to top [/quote

After the first one, I realized that it was no longer saying "Welcome, mudshark" at the top of the page (the fact that I had to enter my s/n to make the first post should have been a tipoff, but oh well.) I find that the software is not logging me in automatically, as I specified, and if I log in each time, it puts my s/n in the "Active users" box, but still says "Welcome guest" at the top of the page.
I figured that this was just a glitch that would get worked out one way or another, and didn't worry too much about it.
The above post (reply to [b

I've been making unregistered posts now and then with no trouble, but when I went to send this one, I got a message to the effect that my login status could not be determined, and that the administrator was not allowing guests to post. Okay, says I, after getting the same result several times, and log in, which action apparently posted the above automatically.[/color
