Christmas is coming! (aka dear GOD we need a new thread!)

Christmas is on it's way. Shocking eh? Even quicker than last year. I swear someone is nicking the days.
Guessing that most of you people work, as I do, I'm going to share the fact that I've hit that time in my life that a lot of people seem to do nowadays. Working on Christmas
I've got to flipping work all Christmas day. And it's not even like I'm in the army, or a doctor, or anything exciting. It's a load of computer crap I do. And seeing that a lot of the stuff I work with is linked to banks and so forth, there will be ZERO for me to do here. And yes, while my company at least have the decency to pay me fairly well (I hear some companies try to avoid paying extra) it still annoys me. Does anyone else work on Xmas? What the hell do you do all day?

Oh, don't remind me.

"Nicking" the days? What, did someone take Zorro off his OCD medication and let him loose at a calendar again?

Hey, be grateful I didn't add that inane winking smiley onto the end of that joke like I usually do.

Slightly off topic, but you reminded me:
Does anyone watch Monk? I've just gotten into it. I Love that show. On series 2 at the mo.

I work at a public university, so I get Christmas and New Year's off, since they're federal holidays. And for the past however-many years, the university has also given me the week between those two holidays off as well. Apparently they save money on electricity and what-not by doing so, despite paying me for not working. So no, haven't worked on Xmas. I'd really hate it if I did have to, so I feel for you, Burt. Assuming you celebrate on Xmas eve or whatever, take all your presents to work and play with them there all day.

And yes, Monk is hilarious. And sad. All at the same time.

Never had to. The moment they want me to curate a museum at Christmas is the moment I start looking for a comfortable permanent fellowship somewhere, preferably with the current incumbent dying. Although the alternative of ripping their great theory of thirty years ago to shreds also has a certain appeal.

My parents love Monk. In fact, they're collecting the DVD sets. Me, I've never seen an episode. The premise disturbs me.
