Passing
Andreas Katsulas, who played G'Kar on Babylon Five and Tomalak on TNG, passed away on Monday. He was 59.

That's a damn shame. He was one of the best actors the genre has ever seen. Rest in peace, Andreas.
(Why has the B5 cast had such awful luck? This is the second major cast member to die -- a point even TOS didn't reach till recently. What's more, both of the B5 actors I've seen in person have now passed away.) |
I saw this over at TrekBBS. I must say I did like the movie The Fugitive as well, which AK was also in. RIP, Andreas Katsulas.

Wow, that kinda popped up from no where. Was it public about his Cancer?
Always weird when actors you've been watching for so long, suddenly die. Like with Dermot Morgan (Father Ted), That just kinda creeped up. What other Babylon 5 actor has passed away? |
Richard Biggs passed away in 2004. He played Dr. Franklin. He also died young.
|
Tim Choate, who played sporadic-yet-memorable Zathras, also passed away within the last couple of years.

Dagumit, G'kar was funny.

Andreas Katsulas was simply one of the most brilliant actors I've ever seen. He had a gravitas and a presence that I wish I could duplicate on the stage. Very few actors in the business today are in the same league as he was - B5 co-star Peter Jurasik and guest-star-on-everything David Warner (Chancellor Gorkon, among other things) spring to mind.

I heard a few months ago that he was ill, so it came as no shock, but it's still sad. |
