June 22

Welcome to Day 8! (Ooo I need your love babe... eight days a week....)
<ul>[*]Derek begins yet another DS9 two-parter with "In Purgatory's Shadow." This episode's well-timed since it follows up directly on the last two-parter we did, despite coming two seasons later.[*]Scooter concludes his Smallville two-parter with the Season 2 premiere, "Vortex." (Temporary page again. 5MSV isn't PHP'd yet.)[*]And from me, here's an OC episode from early Season 1, "The Escape." (The people Ryan's apostropheing at in the last scene are the members of TWOP's OC forum, almost all of whom despise Marissa for some reason.)[/list]

Day 9 tomorrow, and there's no day-nyin' it.

Itak'ika: Welcome to Internment Camp 371.
Garak: Kind of dark, isn't it?
Itak'ika: Nah, only when that big mountain is blocking the sun.
Garak: And let me guess, you call the mountain Purgatory?
Itak'ika: How'd you guess?
:D

Sisko: Ready to seal the wormhole?
O'Brien: 47 million tons of mashed potatoes ready for your order.
Heheh.

Pete: I'm sorry. My friend Travis told me all about getting dumped.
Chloe: Who?

Nixon: Now, Clark, it's time for my getaway. Wait -- dude, where's my car?
Car in the Tree: Hi.
Nixon: Definitely not shibby.
Heheh.

Rachel: Welcome! Can I offer you an apple?
Sandy: Tempting, but no. Let's hear about this job offer.
Rachel: Certainly. Right thissssss way.
Hee.

Holly: Marissa's not coming, eh? Oo, we should totally hook up in TJ.
Luke: Wouldn't that make us TJ hookers?
Ow.

Another fine crop! :D

^Seconded.
That was possibly the worst yet, Zeke :P

City Doctor: I say we should operate immediately.
Country Doctor: I reckon it's as dangerous as greasin' up an angry polecat in a thunderstorm.
Lex: Um... um... Bruce Vilanch to block.
Tom Bergeron: Bruce, Lionel Luther is up for extremely risky eye surgery. Should Lex tell them to go ahead?
Bruce Vilanch: Hon, if you don't order that surgery he's going to wake up feeling like Monica Lewinsky -- in a world without cigars!
Lex: What? Whatever. I agree.
Tom Bergeron: (buzz) Sorry, the correct answer is the operation makes him permanently blind.
Lex: Crap. I knew I should've gone on "Match Game."
Excellent.

Jimmy: What? You promised the apartment would be ready in five days barring acts of God! How can you -- He did? Personally? And He specifically said that "thou shalt not" give me the lease? Great. Just forget it. (hangs up)
I've always thought the term "acts of God" was a rather odd phrase in legal contracts.

I think it's cool that the 'week' has more than seven days -- it's a little cliffhanger of its own, because we have no idea how long the week will be!

Gatac 06-23-2005 02:47 PM

Now, this may be a bit mean to say, but another cliffhanger is how long this "week" of new content will actually be on time with the daily updates. :)

Gatac

Zeke 06-23-2005 03:43 PM

You're right. That may be a bit mean to say.

Don't get me wrong, I love the content storm, but I *am* a bit concerned about how long it can last.

Gatac

Zeke 06-23-2005 06:09 PM

That's a valid concern. I assure you, however, that I'm back in the game now.

Garak: Unfortunately, it was just a copy of Encyclopedia Cardassia.
Bashir: Kind of a short message for an entire encyclopedia, isn't it?
Garak: Well, most of it is classified.
I'm trying to imagine what the Cardassian version of the Access to Information Act looks like...

Worf: Ha! What use would the Federation have for a ruthless, amoral spy?
Garak: Too true. I couldn't imagine the Federation ever being so underhanded.
Nor can I ;)

Kira: But you have this book Men are from Vulcan, Women are from Betazed.
Heheheh. Reminds me of a line I read somewhere: "Men are from Earth. Women are from Earth. Deal with it."

Be nice to Zeke. 5M.net is a hobby, not an obligation. Nobody owes us fivers. He does this site because he wants to. The second he gets fed up and doesn't want to do it any more, you and me and everyone else here is SOL.

I would like to add that making this event longer than a week was the staff's intention right from the start. Zeke's June 15th inaugural post stated up front that the event would "be a week (or more!) of cliffhangers." The staff felt that it would be a fun element of the event to keep the readers guessing as to how long it would last beyond its nominal length of seven days, since this idea fits right in with the cliffhanger theme. So the event isn't lasting longer than a week due to any publishing delays: it was planned that way all along.

Nan 06-24-2005 12:22 AM

Evay's right, y'all. Zeke works hard to run 5MN on his own time and resources, and, frankly, has been handling Cliffhanger Week in exemplary fashion. All the staff has.

Excellent work, guys and girls, all round. :)

I don't know when the blurbs for the Who fivers finally appeared, but I just noticed them, and I enjoyed them, especially "Earthshock."

Zeke 06-24-2005 04:36 AM

Scooter came up with all the new blurbs, for which I thank him. The odd part is that I don't remember pasting them in. I guess I must have, though, unless Scooter sent them to Kira too.

Thanks for coming to my defense, evay et al. Gatac, I hope you won't take this the wrong way. Your post annoyed me, sure, but I'm not denying that you have a point. The real surprise is that there hasn't been a post like this already. I've lost a lot of credit with you guys, and it's going to take time to earn it back.

Zeke, You sure seem to be doing a great job so far! :D

Just remember, everything takes longer that you think it will. ;)

I mean, the last fiver I just read, took almost six whole minutes to read!

The question is, which game? And furthermore, what are the rules about crossing from the diagonal? And what is Lurgi! And furthermore, what is lurgi!
