On each Star Trek series, who is your favorite alien guest(like name the main alien that gets most of the action in an episode)? If you cant think of one, just name the alien race[/color:post_uid0]
|
DS9: Garak & Dukat, hands down. Other Cardassians (Damar, various one-episode guests) don't do much for me, but those two are played by phenomenal actors.
(t)NG: Q, obviously. (t)OS: Sarek VOY, ENT: I don't watch them.[/color:post_uid0] |
how can you not watch VOY and ENT!?
::ahem:: For Voyager, Seska, hands down. And for TNG, I liked Deanna's mom. I'd spell her name but I can't remember how. :D As for Enterprise, no comment, TOS, I don't watch, DS9, I don't get.[/color:post_uid0] |
Her name's Lwaxana.
I really don't get to watch any of the series. So I'll just go with the tribbles where applicable. That'd be TOS and DS9, for the purposes of this thread. ;) ;) As for TNG, hmm, the word "episode" was distinctly used, so no opinion right now on that or VOY. Or ENT.[/color:post_uid0] |
[quote:post_uid0]how can you not watch VOY and ENT!?
[/quote:post_uid0] How could you not watch TOS? I forgot to mention Weyoun and Brunt. They come as a package, since they're both played by the same actor.[/color:post_uid0] |
I think I'd be covered for TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT if I just said Jeff Combs as well ;)[/color:post_uid0]
|
How could I forget Commander Tomalak, played by Andreas "G'Kar" Katsulas.[/color:post_uid0]
|
Dukat, Garak, the Romulan Commander played by Mark Lenard, Sarek (also Mark Lenard), Andreas Katsulas (more as Vissian dude than Tomalok)... er... can't think of any others right now.
That hever I fad bramaged my dain! Nan, gonna milk that excuse for all it's worth ;)[/color:post_uid0] |
If I say Vaughn Armstrong, how many series am I missing?[/color:post_uid0]
|
Voy: the evil guy from year of hell, (I use to know his name)
ENT: the vulcan from fallen hero (I use to know her name too, i think by brain is melting or something.)[/color:post_uid0] |
TOS: Either Balok or Trelane, I can't make my mind up.
TNG: Mr. Homn. DS9: The Founders. VOY: The Q ("How many times do I have to tell you - don't annoy the Borg!") ENT: Dr. Phlox (who I reckon is also the most underused charcter on that show).[/color:post_uid0] |
[quote:post_uid0="PointyHairedJedi"]ENT: Dr. Phlox (who I reckon is also the most underused charcter on that show).[/color:post_uid0][/quote:post_uid0]
Even more than Mayweather? (Personaly I'd like to see more of Hoshi)[/color:post_uid0] |
I'd like to see more of all of them, but expecialy Phlox. I just watched Cogenator last night, (is that the name?)
"I have pictures!"[/color:post_uid0] |
[quote:post_uid0="Celeste"][quote:post_uid0="PointyHairedJedi"]ENT: Dr. Phlox (who I reckon is also the most underused charcter on that show).[/quote:post_uid0]
Even more than Mayweather? (Personaly I'd like to see more of Hoshi)[/quote:post_uid0] Yup. They could do so many interesting things with him, but instead he's been more or less ignored in that respect. He seems to spend most of his time standing around in sickbay with a slightly creepy smile on his face, or condemning sentient species to eventual doom.[/color:post_uid0] |
The Borg, and Q win hands down for this one.
I stopped watching enterprise after six eps, so I can't say much about it. And everytime someone does 'ENT' the first thing that pops into mind are giant, walking, talking tree-beings.[/color:post_uid0] |
I definitely go with any character by Jeffery Combs. DS9 gets double-triple-quadruple credit for having so many great recurring characters - Weyoun, certainly, and of course Garak, Dukat, Damar, the Female Shapeshifter...
ENT - I'd go for Daniel (that's him, right? The guy from the future?) TNG - Q, certainly. And Lore. Definitely Lore. VOY - Hmm. I'm trying to think what recurring characters there *are*. Barcley and Troi, maybe, but I didn't like them in particular... The Borg Queen, I think, would be my pick here. TOS I just don't know well enough... -------[/color:post_uid0] |
I have seen some good answers, but what I was going for are characters you only see once that pretty much represent the alien species. Like when Voyager visits a planet, one or some of those aliens have lines and a name. And after that episode, you never see them again. That is what I was trying to go for, but you all have been doing a good job.[/color:post_uid0]

Isn't it obvious?
It's from Macbeth. ;) Ten points and a cookie for those who know the connection between Macbeth and the Ents. ~Nan[/color:post_uid0] |

Very close.
As a boy in school, a young J.R.R. did not enjoy studying Shakespeare. He felt that the Dunsinane-traveling-forest thing was a cheap letdown (I'm paraphrasing) and preferred that the trees be able to march to war. I'll give out the cookies anyway. :) ~Nan[/color:post_uid0] |

Kelvar is some kind of metal alloy, and olvar is... olvar is... a javascript variable that's grown kinda mouldy. (Ol' var, geddit?) Okay, laaaame.... it just goes to show i will do anything for chocolate chips. :)[/color:post_uid0] |

mmmmMMMm butterscotch.... *looks at fingers* Now I really do have butterfingers. *drops priceless Ming vase* Oops! *priceless Ming vase explodes and destroys unsuspecting starship* Double oops! (orange flavored cookie to the person who can identify the obscure reference) :D[/color:post_uid0] |

Or can tell me why it's called a Ming vase. Obvious guess doesn't count.[/color:post_uid0] |
IIRC, the Ming vase is called a Ming vase because the art style came ot prominence during their authoritarian 17th century administration. Dynasty. Whatever.
Or something. Just a guess.[/color:post_uid0] |
[quote:post_uid0]IIRC, the Ming vase is called a Ming vase because the art style came ot prominence during their authoritarian 17th century administration. Dynasty. Whatever.
[/quote:post_uid0] That was the obvious guess. I too am looking for a reference. PHJ might get it.[/color:post_uid0] |
This isn't a Flash Gordon reference, is it? ;)[/color:post_uid0]
|
It wouldn't happen to be referring to [i:post_uid0]The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy[/i:post_uid0], would it? That was the first thing that occurred to me. Well, actually the second thing; the first was a Clouseau-esque scene where the bumbling hero bumbles and unwittingly KO's a hidden attacker by doing so.[/color:post_uid0]
|
No and no, although they're good guesses.
Think Discworld.[/color:post_uid0] |
That... narrows it down considerably.
[quote:post_uid0]'Why's it called Ming?' said the Archchancellor, on cue. The Bursar tapped the pot. It went [i:post_uid0]ming[/i:post_uid0]. --"Moving Pictures," Terry Pratchett [/quote:post_uid0][/color:post_uid0] |
Well done! Now what was I giving you again?[/color:post_uid0]
|
Ooo - I don't think I would've got that one.
My first thought was 'I didn't do it!'. Kinda sad, I know.[/color:post_uid0] |
