[b:post_uid0]-22:[/b:post_uid0] You find yourself thinking of "5M.." abbreviations for shows, then try as hard as you can to resist asking Zeke if he needs another section head....

wait, that sounds entirely too familiar :D

[i:post_uid0]edit: stupid second page interfering w/ my numbering system...[/i:post_uid0][/color:post_uid0]

NAHTMMM 03-17-2003 11:36 PM

-23. You take pride in your ability to tell who wrote a new fiver by reading the first few lines of the fiver (kinda like that game show where you name the song titles). You take great offense at any suggestions that you merely cheat by looking at the author line beneath the episode title.

-23.b. You do not, in fact, need to peek at the author line to tell who wrote it.[/color:post_uid0]

Zeke 03-17-2003 11:40 PM

[quote:post_uid0="NAHTMMM"](Edit) I didn't say that it applied to myself, Zeke. I merely hypothesized a qualitatively high probability that the trait postulated is invariably characteristic of a being who has spent an undesirably lengthy time suspended from any of various supports which are in immediate proximity to the "Five-Minute Voyager" website.[/color:post_uid0][/quote:post_uid0]
Right. My mistake.

[quote:post_uid0]But since you ask, well, I do remember Chakotay got a cameo in "Broken Bow", although that was in connection with the running "wood" joke. Maybe there was something in an ENT fiver about one of the men and one of the women being stranded on a planet together...?[/quote:post_uid0]

Bingo. "Strange New World" has several references to "Resolutions".[/color:post_uid0]

NAHTMMM 03-17-2003 11:54 PM

It's quite all right, Zeke. ;) The first thing that came to mind was a comment about lizard offspring, but then I remembered that wasn't even J/C... :D

Heh, I just saw the St. Paddy's Day addition to the 5MV homepage. Nice work! :)

-24. Having been given a writing assignment to discuss a specific work of satire of your choice, you write a five-page essay claiming that "Episode II title causes AI research catastrophe" is the single greatest satirical story in the history of mankind.[/color:post_uid0]

Derek 03-18-2003 12:11 AM

[quote:post_uid0="NAHTMMM"](Edit) I didn't say that it applied to myself, Zeke.[/color:post_uid0][/quote:post_uid0]
No offense, NAHTMMM, but I find it disconcerting when you edit your posts after other people have posted below you. Typically, whenever there are new posts, I just jump to the bottom post and don't re-read any of the previous posts to see if anyone has amended their previous posts. I know that I personally would prefer that you just append a new post to the end of the discussion (especially since there is no max reply limit), but maybe that's just me.

Edits strike me as being tools for correcting misspellings and grammar, but new thoughts and amendments seem more appropriate as separate posts. (Then again I may just be despising Edits because they keep striking me.)[/color:post_uid0]

Zeke 03-18-2003 12:15 AM

I'm with Derek on this one. (In fact, Kira and I had just been discussing it.) Let's keep the discussions linear, folks.[/color:post_uid0]

Kira 03-18-2003 12:17 AM

It's not just you. ;)[/color:post_uid0]

PointyHairedJedi 03-18-2003 12:56 AM

-25. You don't bother reading synopsis' of Trek episodes to find out what happened any more - you just go to 5MV instead.

I was also going to say something along the lines of being able to name half a dozen fivers off the cuff in which you'dve liked to see the quote "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off", but I think thats just me.[/color:post_uid0]

Sa'ar Chasm 03-18-2003 03:26 AM

[quote:post_uid0]Let's keep the discussions linear, folks.[/quote:post_uid0]

Linear? What is this?

(Sorry, Zeke, I had to do it. My name is sarcasm, after all.)[/color:post_uid0]

dsbs 03-18-2003 03:43 AM

- 26. You've memorized entire fivers and scare your friends laughing randomly at lines from them at completely inappropriate times (it's not necassarily funny, but it's true.[/color:post_uid0]

Nan 03-18-2003 06:13 AM

Hmmmm... dunno how funny this is...

-27: Pie has considerable significance in daily life.

NAHTMMM 03-18-2003 10:07 PM

-28. If you've ever pored over the Apocryphive (early drafts of published fivers), trying to find hidden predictions foreseeing the appearance of C/7 and the resulting collapse of the universe. [img:post_uid0]http://3sygma.com/fiveminute/forums/html/non-cgi/emoticons/eek5.gif[/img:post_uid0][/color:post_uid0]

Sa'ar Chasm 03-19-2003 12:09 AM

-29 You knew what the Apocrophive was without having to have it explained.[/color:post_uid0]

ijdgaf 03-19-2003 12:27 AM

-30: You type "http://www.3sygma.com/fiveminute/" preceding every series and episode name yet to be published, hoping to find unpublished material.

And yes, i did this -- but not for very many episodes before I gave up (and this was before I was privy to the info to begin with :) )

-31: You have a gut-wrenching feeling this will become the next "Topic Title".[/color:post_uid0]

Captain Galactic 03-19-2003 01:20 AM

Wonders who will make this another "Topic Title".
Wonders if that made sense. Wonders who invented this. Hits head with hand.[/color:post_uid0]

Things Are Good 03-19-2003 01:33 AM

-32: For a fleeting moment, you wonder why newbies are posting in this thread. :p[/color:post_uid0]

Captain Galactic 03-19-2003 01:39 AM

-32.12482: You feel compelled to mention that even though you are a [i:post_uid0]board[/i:post_uid0] newbie, you are not a [i:post_uid0]5MV[/i:post_uid0] newbie. (right back at 'cha, Things are Good :p)

-33: Your friends think it is perfectly normal for you to quote parts of fivers at random.[/color:post_uid0]

NAHTMMM 03-19-2003 01:49 AM

-34. You react to the third post above by laughing evilly and congratulating yourself for having corrupted another mind.[/color:post_uid0]

Opium 03-19-2003 05:05 AM

Captain Galactic, I've been posting only for a short time but have been READING fivers for a while. So a big "NAY NAY We've crushed you good" to Things are Good!

-35. To my post, you picture me crushing Thing Are Good with a big hammer, even though you have never seen us...or the hammer[/color:post_uid0]

Things Are Good 03-19-2003 07:00 AM

-36: You have an urge to defend yourself in list format.

-37: You seem to be making comments to others in list format.[/color:post_uid0]
