Because.

...Man, that joke was dead before it hit the ground. (So expect to hear it a lot.)

I'm gonna blame being at work (so therefore brain dead) for this, but I really don't get it...

They'd get a lot more fans back if they took back their bad death for kirk. (Taking a disruptor shot for picard, like in the book for generations, would have been a fitting death, but just falling down with a bridge? I didn't like it much the first time I watched it, and I was still a kid who didn't know jack-diddly squat about kirk's past. )

It's amazing learning about the stuff in Star Trek I'm supposed to be offended at. I never had a problem with that scene.

(I was also surprised to learn how I was supposed to be insulted at what TNG did with Scotty in "Relics" since they gave the episode actual depth instead of saying, "hey look, a cameo.")

Gatac 04-29-2006 07:41 AM

While I do not take offence at the scene per se, I did rejoice quite a lot when Kirk came back in Shatner's novels. (Which are great fun to read, by the way.)

Wii are not amused by the name change.

@Zeke: Don't think you'll get out of it that easily :P

Oh, and they need to do a film which is different. Maybe something DS9 related. Or that isn't centred on the UFP.

MaverickZer0 04-29-2006 03:18 PM

Oh, it's not that bad. Since the whole 'the controller is a remote thing' I've been kinda prepared. Now when I hear about something Nintendo has done like this, I just die a little inside.

mark726 04-29-2006 10:10 PM

Something tells me there won't be much left of Maverick after Wii comes out...

MaverickZer0 04-29-2006 11:15 PM

Is there now?
...Nah. Then again, I'm the type of person who get's easily distr-
Ooh, kitty.

I no longer have A Problem With The Name. It's more of a picture than a word, you ever notice that?

If not, hold up three fingers on one hand and two on the other to spell Wii. Now count the amount of fingers you're holding up.

Okay, now count the number of home consoles Nintendo's made, including the Wii.

Awesome, oui?

MaverickZer0 04-30-2006 04:42 AM

Niiiice. I never noticed that before.
It's possible this was an accident on Nintendo's part, but still, niiiiice.

It's a little forced. You have to pronounce Wii like "why."

Hejira 04-30-2006 12:10 PM

Even though that's the incorrect pronounciation.

And people looking for a cheapish console for their kids are gonna pronounce it like that too, and why not? ( )

We ( ) got off to a rocky start, but now I have a bond with this console. The bond of Constant Mispronounciation and Misunderstanding. I really, really should get one for free because of this.

Because free stuff is always good.

Zeke 05-01-2006 07:34 AM

And this bond of yours is governed by the wiik nuclear force, I suppose?

Sa'ar Chasm 05-01-2006 03:02 PM

Puns are a habit, and very hard to quite cold turkey. You have to wiin yourself off them gradually.

evay 05-01-2006 05:34 PM

I agree. They start popping up in your speech like wiids before you realize it.
